Copywriting that sells

Pen and paperThe copy on your website has to do a sales job; it has to explain the benefits of your product or service and a reason for your potential customers to buy.  Poor copywriting often provides facts and no benefits and generally speaking this doesn’t work very well.

That’s the reason why good sales copy is so important.

Think about this:
  • Is your site talking to your customers, explaining the great benefits which will lead them to want to buy from you?
  • If you clearly provide the benefits of your business and demonstrate WHY they need it, you’ll make more sales.
  • If you construct your website in a way that leads people through a buying decision process they’ll be more likely to buy from you.
  • Do they trust your site?  You need to establish your credibility if you want them to part with their money.
Your website copy needs to be carefully written to lead the viewer through the sales process and assure them that this product is right for them.

Copywriting for the web is different to brochure copy and requires a different style. To attract the spidered links on the Internet and get your site higher up on the search lists, the copy needs to include search words that your target market details in their search criteria.  We’ll expand on this when we look at search engine optimisation (SEO).
